Shortcode is a functionality that most often consists of inserting a code’s result into an entry or page. The shortcode is case sensitive, and the code is limited by square brackets, e.g. [gallery], often with arguments [gallery id = 11]. WordPress has built-in [audio], [caption], [embed], [gallery] and [video] shortcodes. A large number of plugins provide their shortcode.
